TENTS: WHAT SIZE DO I NEED?

Updated: Apr 30, 2019

Most likely booking a tent is not something you do everyday and we understand how overwhelming it can be when trying to decide what size tent you need. That's where we can help. We specialize in tents and want to make your experience the best it can be. This post has different graphics and charts to help you pick the right one but we are more than happy to help you over the phone or in person.

In order to figure out what size tent you need, you must know the following:

- LOCATION: Is this going on grass or pavement? Knowing whether or not we

can stake the tent down or water barrel it affects what style of tent we can

recommend. Frame/Marquee tents can be staked down or water barreled

meaning it can go on grass or pavement. Pole tents HAVE to be staked

down.

- GUEST COUNT: How many people are you expecting? The charts below are

super helpful but you can also try and determine what tent you need by

calculating the square footage. We recommend between 5-10 square feet

per guest. For example, with theater seating or a cocktail area, 5 or 6 sq. ft.

per guest is comfortable but with tables and chairs, maybe try closer to 8-10

sq. ft. per guest.

- USE: What is going in the tent? No two events are the same so it's helpful to

know what you are using the tent for. For example, a 30x60 tent can seat up

to 192 people comfortably at 8ft banquet tables or can fit 324 chairs lined

up in rows. Or maybe you want 60" round tables, a head table for 12, and a

dance floor for 200 guests? You would need a 40x80 tent.

- DATE: When do you need it? April - October is our busy season for tents

meaning our inventory and delivery schedule books up fairly quickly.

Check out the graphics below to help determine what size tent you need:

A site we often use is allseated.com. It is a great way to play around with layouts and see what you can fit underneath your tent. You can enter in specific dimensions of your space and add different tables, chairs, lounges, etc, to figure out your layout. From there you can even use it to create seating charts. It's a free site to use, you just have to create an account.

If you still don't know what size tent you need or what will work in your space, you can always schedule a site check. One of our tent specialists would meet you on site to measure the space and help determine what size tent you may need. It does require a delivery fee but if the tent is made into a reservation, the amount paid would be applied to your contract.

When measuring your space it is important that the ground is level and that the stakes will extend 6-7 feet beyond the outside of the tent. We ask that you call 1-800-dig-rite to have the utilities in the area marked for the safety of our staff and your property.
