TRENDING IN 2020

With a new year (and decade) comes new trends in the event industry. We recently read The Knot's wedding trend forecast for 2020 and it left us feeling inspired!

1. GREEN VIBES

Eco-friendly and sustainable weddings are here. Rentals are a great option for those looking to reduce their waste. Instead of buying paper plates, napkins and plastic flatware, rent them instead. We have a large selection of different dishes, flatware and linens to choose from that not only look great but don't end up in your trash. Other "upcycling" options include: reusing ceremony floral at the reception and then donating it afterwards, sourcing locally grown and produced food, adding recycling bins at the reception and more.

2. MICRO WEDDINGS

Over the years, we have seen a rise in elopements and small weddings. But with micro weddings, think less than 40 guests. This allows the budget per guest to be higher, meaning more bespoke touches, tons of personalization, unique venues and entertainment... and so much more. Take a peek at the photos below of a styled shoot at one of our local gems, Wildcliff for destination vibes in the heart of Missouri.

3. MAGICAL MYSTICISM

This is a new one for us but it's definitely something that is trending. Mysticism can be anything from crystals, saging, palo santo, even aura photobooths and more. We love the idea of including crystals into your wedding whether it be through place cards, centerpieces or favors.

4. INCLUSIVE MENUS

Inclusivity is the word when it comes to food and beverage. Make sure all of your guests feel welcome by making sure you have vegetarian, vegan, allergy-friendly and nonalcoholic options readily available. If you're local, give our friends Peachtree a look. Not only do they create incredible food and experiences, they are all about making a menu that is tailored to you.

5. BARRETTES AND COMBS

Hair pieces are an easy way to add a little something extra to your hairdo on your big day. While you can find barrettes and combs at most bridal shops, we are big fans of BHLDN because they offer styles with the iconic Anthropologie vibes that are both unique and elegant.

6. TRENDING HUES

Color is the trend this year; from vibrant hues to earth tones, you will see color popping up at weddings whether it's small accents or monochromatic layers.

7. IT'S LIT

LED lights, candles, fairy lights and hanging installations are going to be big this year. While big installations are super cool, adding small concentrations of lights around your reception will still give a big impact!

8. EDIBLE FLORALS

Add them to your cake, to signature cocktails to salads and more! Not all flowers are edible but here are a few popular ones: borange blossoms, hibiscus, nasturtiums, violets, squash blossoms, and lavender.

9. TABLE REMIX

This is a favorite of ours. Gone are the days of just using round or rectangular tables. Think outside the box when it comes to your room layout. Mix and match rounds, banquets, squares and even serpentines. See the photos below of a styled shoot at Emerson Fields where we arranged our farm tables into X's.

10. SELF-SERVE REFRESHMENTS

While coolers and kegs are a popular choice, there are many other options for self-serve bars. If you have an outdoor event, rent our Concoction Caravan for your bartenders to serve cocktails and then use the vintage cooler it comes with for bottled beverages. Or you could create a self-serve bar complete with our beverage dispensers filled with your favorite concoctions and then mix-ins for a custom experience.

11. STATEMENT WEDDING DECOR

2020 means bold colors and big statements. Instead of stretching your decor budget to cover lots of small details, focus instead on a few statement pieces that are sure to wow. Think hanging arrangements, backdrops, specialty linens, vintage lounges (check out Pretty Little Things), escort cards displays and lots of flowers.

12. DRESSED TO IMPRESS

We love a good tux. Blue is the new black this year for tuxes but it doesn't stop there! Unique colors and details are just what you need to make your groom feel one-of-a-kind on his special day! Take a look at these fun options from past styled shoots.

13. THE CHEESE HOUR

Charcuterie Boards are the best. Instead of the traditional Viennese Hour, replace the desserts with specialty meets, cheeses, fruits, nuts, crackers and spreads. Or do it as part of your cocktail hour or late-night snack. Once again, our friends at Peachtree makes a killer charcuterie spread.

14. CHARITY CHECK

Add your favorite charity to your registry or leave a donation box on your gift table. 2020 brides and grooms are all about giving back!

15. PERSONALIZED PAPER

Your wedding is all about you and your significant other so why not have your invitations and other paper products reflect that? Hand-drawn details, fonts, calligraphy, letterpress, acrylic, handmade paper, wax seals, ribbons... the options are endless. We have a Pinterest board dedicated just to paper because we love it that much.

16. INTERACTIVE EATS

Food experiences are super popular. Gone are the days of bland buffets. Interactive food displays and stations are the future. A perfect example? Our donut wall. Pair with our Concoction Caravan for a fun donut and milk station!

17. SPRAY PAINTED STEMS

Unexpected is the key word. Think bright, metallic, and pastel. Give your flowers and greenery an artsy revamp!

18. TO-THE-MAX FASHION

Think elegant, exaggerated, embellished... the dresses for 2020 are classics with a twist.

19. SPIRITED SIPS

Anything with gin, mezcal, or fizz is going to be popular this year. Talk to your bartender about a signature drink...maybe a gin fizz?

20. THE NEW AMENITY BASKET

Amenity baskets in bathroom at a wedding are a blessing. Keep them stocked with the essentials: mints, hair spray, pain reliever, deodorant, safety pins, feminine products, Tide To Go, bobby pins, band-aids, tissues, and gum. The list could go on and on. The "new" basket might include fun lip glosses and glitter hair spray, scrunchies. Think over the top. And make sure the party doesn't stop when your guests are waiting to freshen up, have stations in front of the restroom with a magician or palm reader. Whatever you want to give your guests the best experience.

We are so excited for the 2020 wedding season to begin so we can see how you incorporate the trends into your big day! Using our rentals? Tag us so we can share!
